OVERVIEW:

The objective of this project is to create both internal and external user interfaces that facilitate easy, rapid, and clear enrollments. To achieve this, I am conducting interviews and usability testing to identify the optimal solution.

As part of my role in this project, I am responsible for conducting user research, analyzing the collected data, and designing the interfaces. After the testing and design stages are completed, I collaborate with the developers to implement the interfaces into the real world.

ROLE:

UX/UI Researcher & Designer

PROBLEM:

How to make Union Hub more intuitive to users?

SOLUTION:

Through research, testing, and design iterations Union Hub will become more user friendly for both internal and external users.

TOOLS:

Figma, Teams, Word

USER RESEARCH:

Ongoing user interviews and usability testing were conducted to gather both quantitative and qualitative data on both internal and external users. The gathered data is then analyzed and compared to determine how and where the interface functionality can be improved to simplify and expedite the enrollment process.

DEFINITION & IDEATION:

During the user research phase, I identified that users often feel overwhelmed by the complicated and bulky interface, which results in frustration and decreased enrollment rates.

To address this issue, I believe that implementing a clear, simple, and straightforward user flow will enhance user retention and growth in enrollment rates. Streamlining the internal enrollment process will also reduce the enrollment specialist's workload, enabling them to process more enrollments. Similarly, improving the external self-enrollment process will encourage more users to take advantage of the ability to enroll without needing to make a call.

One approach I may take to accomplish this is by providing users with a questionnaire about their interests, preferences, and enrollment methods. This way, the product can assist users in deciding how they want to enroll and simplify the process for them.

TESTING:

The objective of the usability testing was to evaluate the user flows and design of the site using Teams as a medium, to determine whether it is intuitive and easy for the user to navigate.

KEY FINDINGS:

The testing project is still ongoing, and I am continuously gaining insights into the users, benefits, and how to enhance the site's functionality. Some of the features that have been integrated into the design based on user feedback include:

  • Larger and more visible buttons

  • Consistent design elements throughout the entire site

  • Breaking down long forms into shorter and more manageable steps

  • Dashboard for presenting crucial information and data

  • Creating tasks in an intuitive and user-friendly way.
